1947 - 2026

My 💔 is in my stomach. My arms are shaking as I write this! Found out the news while listening to "Black Muddy River(RFK 07-12-1989)," the Last Grateful Dead tune Jerry sang at Soldier Field 1995. You are free, Bobby. Free from the human body. Say hi to Jerry and the 'other ones' for me. You will be missed, but you lived a whole life on your own terms that anyone could only wish for. I will always ❤ you, Bobby Weir - I can't express in words the impact you have had on my life. I am so grateful and blessed to be in your presence when our paths crossed. RIP and God Bless you, old Friend. See you on the other side. This is a hard one, but I don't believe in goodbyes. Just "Till We Meet Again!"

Dave's Picks Vol. 57: Uptown Theatre, Chicago, IL 2/1/78

We're confident that when you listen to  DAVE'S PICKS VOL. 57: UPTOWN THEATRE, CHICAGO, IL (2/1/78), the first  complete unreleased show in the 2026 Dave's Picks series, you'll ask why  the heck did this take so long? On a short list for both Dick's Picks  and an early Dave's Picks release, 2/1/78 exhibits countless examples of  the very best of both 1977 and 1978, bridging two distinct yet  complementary eras of the Grateful Dead’s music.

This  very first Dead run at the Uptown is infused with bold exploration from  the monster first set of classics ("Jack Straw, "Friend Of The Devil,"  "Me And My Uncle") with a "Sugaree" reminiscent of May '77 to close  things out, from Bobby's powerful delivery of "Samson and Delilah," to  the Rhythm Devils' spacey psychedelic improvisations beyond  "Drums>Space" to Jerry's over-the-top notes filling in every nook and  cranny of the second set. Was it worth the wait? You betcha! Also, not  to be missed? The 2nd set from 1/31/78. We've laid that out on this one  as well.

Limited to 25,000 numbered copies, DAVE'S  PICKS VOL. 57: UPTOWN THEATRE, CHICAGO, IL (2/1/78) was recorded by  Betty Cantor-Jackson and has been mastered to HDCD specs by Jeffrey  Norman at Mockingbird Mastering.

The Divided Sky Residential Recovery Program

The seeds of the Divided Sky Residential Recovery Program were sown in the shared vision of two unlikely partners — musician Trey Anastasio of the band Phish, and Melanie Gulde, the drug court case manager who guided him through a 14-month court-ordered journey following his  December 2006 arrest for DUI and drug possession. In the years that followed, their shared journey blossomed into a heartfelt alliance dedicated to supporting others on the path of recovery.

Wharf Rats

Wharf Rats are a group of concert-goers who have chosen to live drug and alcohol-free. They arose out of the environment around the rock group the Grateful Dead and their followers, the Deadheads, both of which were rooted in the drug-embracing counterculture of the 1960s.

Albert K. Bender

Albert K. Bender

Albert K. Bender (June 16, 1921 – March 29, 2016), author of the 1962 nonfiction book Flying Saucers and the Three Men, was a ufologist. He served in the United States Army Air Forces during World War II. He was obsessed with the UFO phenomenon and became a UFO researcher, founding the International  Flying Saucer Bureau. In 1965, he founded the Max Steiner Music Society, which is dedicated to the eponymous composer.

Wikipedia Biography

Gray Barker

Gray Barker (May 2, 1925 – December 6, 1984)[1] was an American writer best known for his books about UFOs and other paranormal phenomena. His 1956 book They Knew Too Much About Flying Saucers introduced the notion of the Men in Black to ufology. Recent evidence indicates that he was skeptical of most UFO claims and mainly wrote about the subject for financial gain. He sometimes participated in hoaxes to deceive more serious UFO investigators.

Lady and a City Revisited (2027)

Return To Bridgeport, CT

I will revisit my student film, "A Lady and a City," and reveal how the city has changed since the original 16 mm black and white college film in 1998. In Lady and a City Revisited, I will again include my grandmother Marjorie Nordstrom Schneider's story, past experiences, and future visions of Bridgeport, CT, where she worked and lived during WW2, with video clips and audio clips from the black and white original film from 1998 mixed with new video and audio from today in the year 2024. I will show how the city has changed from before, during, and after 1998, when I filmed the town in A Lady and a City, until today in 2024. Along with the updated character and location shots from the student film, I will also include interviews with ladies of all ages who have lived in Bridgeport, CT, in the past and now and their visions of the city in the future. The short video is in early development, and 2025 will be released.

French Underground (2028)

Forgotten Soldiers of WWII

The French Resistance (French: La Résistance, [la ʁezistɑ̃s]) was a collection of groups that fought the Nazi occupation and the collaborationist Vichy regime in France during the Second World War. Resistance cells were small groups of armed men and women (called the Maquis in rural areas)[2][3] who conducted guerrilla warfare and published underground newspapers. They also provided first-hand intelligence information and escape networks that helped Allied soldiers and airmen trapped behind Axis lines. The Resistance's men and women came from many parts of French society, including émigrés, academics, students, aristocrats, conservative Roman Catholics (including clergy), Protestants, Jews, Muslims, liberals, anarchists, communists, and some fascists. The proportion of French people who participated in organized resistance has been estimated at one to three percent of the total population.[4]

Charles de Gaulle

Charles André Joseph Marie de Gaulle[a][b] (22 November 1890 – 9 November 1970) was a French general and statesman who led the Free French Forces against Nazi Germany in World War II and chaired the Provisional Government of the French Republic from 1944 to 1946 to restore democracy in France. In 1958, amid the Algiers putsch, he came out of retirement when appointed Prime Minister by President René Coty. He rewrote the Constitution of France and founded the Fifth Republic after approval by referendum. He was elected President of France later that year, a position he held until his retirement in 1969.
